Sewing Friends

Quilts made by the Sewing Friends are sent through Lutheran World Relief to people around the globe whose lives have been affected by natural disasters, extreme poverty or by violence in their country causing them to be refugees.  This group meets from September through May on Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. in the lower level of the church building.  No experience is necessary – come join us!!

Highlight of this Ministry:

Sewing Friends has received several inquires as to where the money from our quilt sales go.  In 2012, $500 was donated towards our church office computers, $160 went to purchase sewing notions, and fabric as well as for sewing machine repairs.  $200 was donated to Lutheran World Relief for shipping costs.  In 2013 $270 went to World Vision for a sewing machine for an impoverished woman, $520 to the OSLC Assistance Fund, and $300 to Lutheran World Relief for quilt shipping costs. In the recent past, we have paid for the shades and valences in Kaufmann Hall and provided funds for a new snowblower and lawnmower.  In short, Sewing Friends has made funds available for various needs of the church throughout the years and we anticipate continuing doing so.
